From the physical point of view, the long strokes, slow pace and the warm oil used during OBM, promote deep relaxation, so OBM is particularly suitable to balance Vata dosha.
OBM has also a more subtle, energetic effect. The spiral movements activate the body energy while the 8-shape strokes promote the melting of energies, the integration of different polarities.
The evocative power of the symbols (the geometric shapes) combined with the ritual touch awakens the deep connection between body and mind and promotes the state of grace (bliss) which we experience when our polarities (male/female, material/spiritual) have been integrated, when we manage to go beyond all dualities to finally feel "one". |
